Is Inbreeding In Snails A Thing?

Kittenluna

Do snails have genetic issues and such from inbreeding like a fish would?
I just hatched mystery snail eggs and would like to keep a few to put in the tank their parents are in. Is this just something I should not do?

Only thing I have heard about it is they can have very thin shells from inbreeding. It is best to switch the snails around in the tanks to limit inbreeding. It will still most likely happen but you have a better chance of new blood.

Hi, many types of aquatic snails are hermaphrodite which means they produce eggs & sperm & don't need another snail to reproduce, some, like apple snails do need male & female but I don't think you'd have a problem with any genetic mutations.
