Is giant duck weed as nutritious as regular duck weed?

I've heard that duck weed (lemna minor) can be up to 35% protein and is really good fish food. I have giant duck weed (spirodela polyrhizais) and I'm wondering if it is as nutritious.

I dont see why not? Its just bigger than the normal duckweed.

I agree, but I do plan to dry it and feed it to the fish that way.

I'm thinking about making diy fish food by drying it. What if I just pulled off the leaves and dried them?

If your drying it to make food then the size should be no problem since it will all be mush in the food

Slightly more interesting as the fronds can have a purple underside. But no less annoying.

Eventually my population seemed to crash, maybe due to exhaustion of trace elements.

They have an interesting winter survival strategy, producing turions instead of fronds. These sink to the bottom to survive the winter cold. But I don't think this will happen in your aquarium.

How much bigger is it, compared to Lemna Minor (which is small and annoying)?

They are all variable but it is two to three times bigger.

Ah nice. If I didn't have a tank full of Water Lettuce I'd probably give it a go.

My Water Lettuce population eventually crashed also. But I didn't feel unsuccessful as it thrived for an extended period and I was ready for something different.
