Is Anyone Good With Computers?

Ok so I wasn't sure where to post this but I figured this is a large community and someone might be able to help goodness knows it will probably be way better than what my facebook friends tried telling me. I'm sorry its a bit lengthy but here it goes:

Ok so whos really good with computers that can do me a favor and fix mine or tell me where or how it can get fixed. It has been increasingly blue screening the past two months, starting from once every week or two, to two or three times a day. Now its compleltely done. I press the powerbutton and it won't turn on. I might hear the fan or cd compartment turn on but only for a second and the screen will still be off. The charging light is on as is a usb device that I have plugged in but the computer seems off. Now the computer won't even make a sound but its warm like its been on for a while. Nothing happens when I pressthe on switch and the charging light remains on even if I take the battery out. I have an HP Inspirion G6 Laptop and its about two years old. I haven't dropped it, spilled anything on it, or cracked it, but I must have fried some component of it. Any help or ideas would be extremely appreciated! Money is tight and I would rather not have to bring it to a repair shop or radio shack or buying a new one right away, unless its highly suggested or nothing else can be done.Thank You!

ok couple questions

1. what where/are you doing when it gave you the blue screen of death (LOL)
2. was it running hot loud fans extremely hot to the touch (bottom of the laptop)
3. did you happen to be able to get the error code from the blue screens (usually tells you what is the issue after googleing the error code) and its better to try to snap a pic of the blue screen cause you won't have time to write the error code down before the PC reboots itself if you can get it to boot and blue screen again get the code at the bottom of all the writing
4. can you get it to boot into recovery or safe mode??

I know its a lot of questions I work on a lot of PCs and laptops if you can answer these questions I might be able to help you pinpoint the problem

Based on your story it would seem that the problem is hardware and not software. Nowadays most of the components are integrated into the motherboard especially laptops. With laptops, the parts are proprietary meaning that you can only get the parts directly from the manufacturer. The exception is the RAM, harddrive, and optical drive but does not seem to be the culprit in your case. You can try having the laptop repaired but purchasing a new one probably would give you less headaches. Two years is too old by today's computer standards and is the average lifespan. You can salvage the hard drive and your data by purchasing a hard drive enclosure (effectively converting it into an external hard drive). Bring the hard drive with you when purchasing an enclosure since there are many types that might not be compatible.

its quite possibly the Hard drive, but most definetly its hardware related. you could pop the hard drive out fairly easily and then read off the manufacturer. most likely Hitachi. There is probably 1 screw holding in the drive and it will slide out.
To test if its the hdd go and purchase an external case for it and plug it into any other computer. If it comes up and you can read the data then its probably something else causing the laptop not to boot. External cases are cheap. Under $20. If it doesn't show up or spin or make noise then the hdd is bad. New HDD is probably under $100 or much less depending on how much room you need.

google "hp pavilion g6 hard drive removal" there's you tube video's and manuals. very simple.

I don't think it's the harddrive since she doesn't even see the initial bios screens during powerup.

Sorry for taking so long to respond Ive been busy...

1. I was just on the internet or on the computer in general ie. Microsoft office or playing the sims 3 when it would crash
2. the fans were running normally as far as I could tell (before it never turned on again) after that when I hit the power button no screen would appear and the fan only ran about 3secs before shutting off.
3. I never got the error code :/
4. It won't turn on at all. No screen shows up.

I will probably eventually buy a new computer since its "old" anyway. the only problem is it needs to be cheap, have 3 usb ports (I have a broadband usb internet connection which is my only way to get internet at home), a CD/DVD Drive, an HDMI port for a class I'm taking, and a decent amount of space for all my music, papers etc...

Its sounds like the motherboard has gone bad or the onboard video card went on it. It would be cheaper in the long run to just get a new laptop. I would check out
newegg.com or tigerdirect.com both have pretty good sales all the time on laptops and desktops its where I order parts for peoples stuff all the time and they are pretty quick on delivery too.

could maybe try this to won't erase anything it will just reset the hardware setting back to default in case something got changed

1) Remove the battery and unplug the DC power adapter.
2) Press and hold the power button for more than thirty seconds.
3) Plug in the DC power adapter (leave the battery out for now)
4) Press the power button

let me know if that works didn't see it was a G6 and they are bad at getting corupt settings have dealt with a few and this worked 99% of the time
