Is Anyone Else Here School Age

Hello! Some of you might've seen me on posts. Yes, a 13 year old boy with few months of fish experience. I try to post informative things, and research things. Sometimes I'm right, sometimes I'm wrong. Shoutout to my friend (maybe he/she thinks of me differently, IDK,) Gourami36 , They always give the right information, or confirm I'm right, thanks!

That was just a small intro to me and why I post, possibly applies to others. Anyway, Is anyone else here middle school age, or high school? I feel kinda lonely here, surrounded by all of these experts. (Thanks for helping us!)

Nah, I'm homeschooled. I do this in my free time. I do want EVERYONE possibly in my community, but I find it awkward to try and message adults who don't try and message me first. If YOU don't mind being messaged, shoot me a PM. Or I will.

Don't feel awkward messaging adults. Everyone here wants to help in any way they can. You would get more help/participation with a thread rather than a PM because more people will see it.

Heck, I don't even know the age of many of the people I communicate with on here. Not everyone even discloses their age. Some have been known to pick a fake age.

So really...don't worry about looking for a certain age group. We are all lovers of the fish hobby who want to interact with other lovers of the fish hobby. Regardless of their age!

I'm 19, and was indoctrinated into the hobby since I was a wee little kid, grandma was a monster fish keeper xD

I'm a junior in high school. I've had various fish since I was little but only for the past six months have I done real research and taken it more seriously. My parents also don't pay for anything. I have to pay for my car, and fund both my equestrian hobby (board is WAY TOO MUCH a month!) and my fishkeeping hobby all by myself! Let's just say I'm at work constantly lol

Nice! I have to buy my own car, and of course all my own fish stuff. Its great though because I work for my LFS and so I get a 20% employee discount

The judge didn't allow it hahaha.

Haha I do lots of research, and working with extremely knowledgeable people helps tremendously! I always feel like you blow me away in the knowledge department. Fishlore here is what started it all so I definitely have everyone on here to thank .

 

One thing I learned being on here is that it's difficult to get a sense of a person's age. A lot of teens on here I thought were adults. Don't be afraid to PM someone because they're not close to your age.

Ouch, denial can be embarassing. Hope that's not me in a few decades, lol. Best age gracefully in mind, if not body.

 

For people like me, where do you experts (and amatuers,) get your info? Is it experience, reading, both, or something else? I want to become someone who can be knowledgeable, like Culprit , DoubleDutch , Gourami36 ,and bizaliz3 .

Got my info from books.........uhhhhh books. Something made of paper from the centuries before this one.

I’m not comparable to the other people you mentioned. They have much more experience than me. From most to least I get information from online (mostly fishlore and seriously fish), aquarium encyclopedias, and experience.
