Is a 65L tank too big for a single betta fish?

I have a 65L (just shy of 20 gallons) tank that previously held 5 balloon mollies, all of which have unfortunately passed. I'm not going to dive back into things for a little while now, as I'm hoping to re-set the whole tank and make it planted, but I have been looking at potential fish I could add once I sort everything out. I've been looking at betta fish and was curious if a 65L tank would be too big for just the single fish? Any input would be appreciated, thanks!

I think that's awesome & with a lot of plants that would be the happiest betta in the world!

I'd imagine a short finned plakat male or female would love the extra swimming room since they are usually quite active. A giant betta might fill out the tank more if you're just looking for a single fish.

I have a 1/2 inch crown tail betta in a 20 gallon. She loves it! The only thing you have to watch out for is spaces that they can get stuck in. Like behind the filter, in the filter, heater, decorations, etc. Me and my husband have lost three betas due to this. We thought we had it under control in our beta jumped into the filter and murdered himself. They are very curious and like soft things. Definitely get sea urchins, the silicone ones. Lots of live plants! It will help with your water also cycling. Have fun post pictures!

Yes, lots of plants and places for him to feel safe I'm thinking.

I have a single Veiltail Betta in a 20gl. Not only does it look absolutely stunning when he floats through his planted territory, he really uses the full real estate.
He has two Nerites as company to munch on bio film, otherwise he is dominating the tank.I think it is fantastic, no tank is too big, it is what you make it for him. All power to you:)

Thank-you everyone! I wanna research betta's a little more to make sure I'd be able to care for them properly before I make any definite commitments, but I'll definitely post photos of my tanks progress once I get started!
