is a 1500 gph filter to much for a 75 gallon goldfish tank

It's a good filter, but the 1500 is rated to 350 GPH. Generally, you want to turn your tank over a minimum of five times per hour.

75 * 5 = 375 GPH, and goldfish are notorious waste producers. You may have to supplement the filter a bit.

can I get a hang on back filter at petco rated for a 60 gallon tank to have the proper filtration

would I be over stocked with 2 comets in a 75 gallon tank everyone else told me I need 180 gallons or more for 1

I not real familiar with goldfish, I do have some fancies. But I would think if you overfilter and do large regular water changes you could get by with 2 comets in a 75 for quite awhile.

For the difference of 25 Gallons / hour, I would use this filter.
It will be fine

This might be a little late but comets can reach 12in so like marI said for awhile this could be fine but eventually they will out grow the tank.
