Could I put a clown pleco with a rts in a 20G tank? That's all the fish I would have in that tank.

Hello Cruton and Welcome to Fish Lore!

I have moved your post to create its own thread, so that it can receive the attention it deserves. It was posted in an older thread.

I hope you enjoy the site.

Ok, I just heard they got along with plecos really well. Thanks for the input! I just want a fish that can go with the rts. Any ideas?

they do usually...but not in a 20 gallon tank he would only be able to be the only fish in that size....he will harass/kill anything else

Clown pleco will do fine in a 20. It's really too small for a RTS.

Ok, I think I will just ditch the rts for now. If I get a bigger tank in the future, I will consider it. My old plan, 6 cherry barbs, a clown plec, and maybe a betta or dwarf gourami. Would this work, or is it slightly overstocked?

You could easily do 10 cherry barbs, a clown pleco and a dwarf gourami. That would be a nice tank.

I would suggest that you not add a betta to a community tank, especially not one with cherry barbs. I just got some, and they are very fast and active. Go with the DG.

Ok, maybe 8 cherry barbs, 1 clown plec, 1 Dwarf Gourami. That way decorations and plants can easily get counted in. Or I could get a Pair of Gourami's.

GouramI can be ad aggressive towards their own kind. I wouldn't do two in that tank size

You could add a bunch of ghost shrimp for clean-up.

Oh yeah, welcome to the forum!

Ghost shrimp will probably become a meal for either the fish or the filter. I had mine with mollys and stores sell the shrimp so small they got eaten and they also go sucked up by my filter.

Mollys are much bigger than cherry barbs, with significantly larger mouths. True most shrimp end up as a meal, but that'll happen slowly over time.
