Introducing Westerlund, My Betta And A Filter Question.

Hey, I got my 10 gallon setup and I did a master kit test this morning and results were good so I picked up my betta. His name is Westerlund.

I have a question though, I have a Aqueon quiet flow 30 and it seems to push him around when he moves in front of it. is this too much filter for a 10g? Is there a way to reduce the flow?

Firstly, such a nice Betta . He probably feels like he's in a mansion

Secondly, thr easiest way to reduce flow is by adding a sponge filter to the intake tube, they're not very expensive and fit too. I use this one on one of my filters, and it fits although it's not a fluval brand

Another method I've done in my smaller Betta tank is actually remove the intake tube and cut a piece of sponge (from an aquarium sponge for algae...removed the scrubby portion) that larger than the hole of the intake and let the natural suction of the filter keep it in place. It really slows down the intake and outtake as well. But try the sponge filter first; that should sk the trick just fine since your tank is on the bigger side.

What is the white clip on your heater? I think that's supposed to be removed.

Yes, that's too much. I have an Aqueon 20 on a 10 gal and think that's too much

You could buffer the output with something like this. Sorry about the language but this was the only link that I found immediately

I use a spray bar completely submerged in water to spread out and reduce the current. It was provided with my filter.
