Introducing: Fraggle

We can't decide exactly which fraggle he resembles the most. Maybe Webly or Red? But I think he's pretty cute anyway. My husband fell in love with him at Petsmart last night, and brought him home. There were so many beautiful bettas that it was hard to choose! The hubs wanted one with a lively personality that showed interest in humans. Fraggle tried to lunge through his cup at us when picked up, flared at the other bettas, and seemed very alert, if not hyper.

Once we brought him home, he acted extremely terrified and hid. Now settled down in his permanent home, he's exploring and eating normally. He's already coloring up. In the store, he was yellow and goldenrod with black patterning, with the faintest darker tinge to his fins. Now he looks more apricot, with a bit of pale blue iridescence in the body. I think he's a pineapple? But he's definitely less yellow and more peachy today than he was yesterday. Also, there was a faint black band on his tail yesterday that is gone today? Or, it seems to have turned orangey with the rest of his tail? What a fun little fish.

That’s a cute name! I like “Fragle”, very, very cute. He looks like a pineapple to me as well, the black smudge could have just been caused by some stress and now that he’s settled in he isn’t as stressed.

Ah sorry I read that as "Kragle" from the lego movie

An absolutely stunning little guy though! I've never seen such a glossy even shade of pink and his fins look like dripping paint because of it! This may well be the most aesthetic betta I have ever seen. Take good care if him

Platylover Aha. I didn't realize black markings could be a sign of stress. Tks! Mary765 Thank you!

Haha, I feel silly posting this, but I just gave him his first frozen blood worm. He went totally bonkers! Patrolled and frantically searched that corner of the tank for 30 minutes looking for a second one. Total wiggle fest! So cute! I had no idea it would be so popular. I think this will be his Sunday treat from now on.

Frozen bloodworms are by far bettas’ favorite, they also have a pretty high nutritional value but don’t feed bloodworms everyday or else they’ll get a fatty liver, he needs some veggies every so often to break it up so once every couple weeks a little piece of deshelled pea.

What a pretty boy! I've never seen pineapple on a crowntail personally before (may I say again - he's so cute!) Congratulations! Keep us updated!

Skye_marilyn Thanks for the info. I've been looking up how many to give him at once, since they seem bigger than the betta pellets. I don't want to overdo it, especially since this one is smaller than the last betta, and still figuring out how to eat in the tank vs. tiny cup. (So excitable and easily distracted.) My last betta had problems with constipation a couple times due to my husband and I forgetting to tell each other we'd fed the fish, or accidentally dropping to much in . So I have frozen peas and garlic ready to go whenever. Luckily, Fraggle seems to willing to eat anything, so I bet he'll like the pea.

DanielleFish Thank you!

Ah, so I've noticed with the black markings on his tail and head, they are dark and more present in the morning, but fade in the evening. I think he just starts to pale a bit in the evenings as he winds down for the day. His head is almost completely black in the morning. So I'm not going to worry about it.
