I have a Fluval U3 and three Tetra Whisper 20i. they do what they're supposed to.

you can mod the Tetra media, polyfill in the bottom and ceramics on top.

Does the Tetra hang on the side or suction to the inside of the tank?

2x Cube Filters from Swiss Tropicals -linked. One for each back corner.

ATI Hydro Sponge IV or V Filters. Buy 2, and place 1 in the back corners. The Kensfish, Jehmco online have the best selection and pricing on them. 1 regular + 1 Pro model would work well. The "Pro" models have coarse foam for higher flow rates.

A quality air stone and a decent air pump w/ dual outlets, like a Tetra Whisper 100 or Fluval Q1, will work. Those pumps are $16-$19 online.

The ultimate in-tank filter would be an HMF or corner HMF (LINK).

it has an adjustable clip that hangs on the rI'm of the tank. I believe you can use the suction cups only. I'll have to look when I get home.
