Interesting Betta Quirks

I'm wondering if anyone else's bettas do unusual things trying to get our attention. Hermes is my desk baby, and while I draw or do anything at my desk, I listen to music on headphones and occasionally sing with the songs. Well, earlier he was hiding under his bridge while I organized my desk, but as soon as I put my headphones on, he came out and started swimming and trying to get my attention. I chatted with him, but he retreated to his bridge like he was sulking. I started singing with my music and boy he came out and started swimming around in his tank. I guess he enjoys songs and such, haven't tried playing my music over the speakers yet. Either that or I was singing horribly off-key :

So what have your bettas done to get your attention or shown they enjoy certain things with you?

The funny things they do...

LOL.. yea, they do funny things like that.. KairI & Teddy Bear have been my "computer fishies" and when it starts getting late, they both have a habit of coming out of their usual sleeping spot to look at me until I notice them, then they swim back in.. their way of telling me "turn those screens off and go to bed!"

And they all recognize certain things we do that tell them food will be coming soon. As soon as they do, we notice them all go into their begging-for-food routines.

My bettas like music and especially if I sing to them with my hand on the side of the tank. Unfortunately they each have their own "song" and I have to sing my voice hoarse to satisfy them. but it is a really good way to have quality time with them. I love the time I have with them this way but always keep a cold drink to sip afterwards as I sometimes cannot speak for a while after getting 7 bettas full of "quality time". I know this sounds silly but they do need attention to develop their personalities and this is a good way to do it. Talking to them works too but now as well in my case. Nate is in the hospital tank now and especially needs to have a lot of attention but he will do all kinds of summersaults and fun things when he gets attention he is such a happy betta even though he is very sick with finrot.

Sammy's tank is right beside our sofa. So whenever one of the cats is getting attention Sammy swims around the cat to get my attention...he also stares when we are eating. Jewel is in our bedroom and she comes up to the top of the tank every time I bend down or sit on the bed to look at her...then it's like she realizes that I am just watching & not feeding her. SO she swims up & down in the front of the tank.
Jasper doesn't really do much...he will come to my finger if I stick in the top.

Beethoven's tank is next to my loveseat. Whenever I sit down he'll come to the side and swim back and forth until I talk to him. I also sing to him and he seems to enjoy it. He likes really rhythmic songs. If I sing a song with lots of long notes, like the chorus to "Hey there Dalila," he swims away like he's bored with it. LOL! Right now he's not feeling well so Nora Jones seems to be what does it for him. He also watches movies with me when I sit next to the tank and watch movies online from my laptop. And he's not afraid of anything I put in the tank. He always swims right up to the gravel vacuum or turkey baster to check them out.

Nigel was my computer buddy...his tank was right besides the desk. He'd flare out for me whenever he saw me...I think he figured he needed to flare to get my attention away from the computer. ;D

Yes mine love the TV but are very BOSSY about what we watch. They demand the Animal Planet all morning so I do work on the computer as I do not care for most of it. I do let the guys in the bedroom watch it too so my electric bill gets high sometimes. (two televisions and the computer) But alas my little Damon who used to have the TV on all night for a nightlight is now gone and I almost miss the sound of it. I may have to leave it on to get a good nights sleep. Damon must me haunting me.

my ct builds bubblenests that almost cover his entire tank to get my attention...the only reason they don't cover the entire tank, is the current from the filter pops the bubbles

;D Jewel poses for pictures ...she'll stop right in front of the camera. She also let me pat her yesterday...she kept coming up to my finger after that. It was so cute.

attention: bettas!

I love that.. isn't it funny the way they try to get our attention? Like Angel swims around her column in laps if i'm near the tank until I pay attention to her, then she'll swim over and eat it up.
