Installing a 100 watt R02984 heater.

I just bought a Top Fin 20 gallon tank with heater. All it tells me is to put it in the tank but do I cover everything including the red knob or not. I checked a couple of video's on You tube but even they don't explain. This is all new to me and and the last thing I want to do is to burn it out.

Most heaters are completely submersible, which means that you can put it in completely including the knob. Check the box or instruction manual, it might say. Some people even recommend putting it horizontally on the base of the tank so there's more even circulation, but it's up to you.

That's how I got mine

okay thanks, just wanted to be sure before I put it in the tank. I thought I could put it completely in the water but I wasn't sure about the red knob and it doesn't say in the instructions.

Does it matter if it is near the filter pump or not.

It's adjustable? It ma not be submersible. Can you post a picture of it?
