Here are some pics of my well I just call them American cichlids some south some north it’s crazy how much the blue light comes out in pictures that’s literally the lightest setting for it and it looks like it does on the darkest

Haps and peacocks only in my Malawi tank. Most of my haps are still small except the Red Empress.

It's a combination of the light and camera settings.

The light is a 48" Fluval Aqua Sky LED
Red 100%
Blue 100%
Green 25%
White 25%

The camera is my cellphone
Samsung Galaxy Note 8 (im way overdue for an upgrade)
Camera on Pro mode
ISO between 500 and 800 depending on the color and brightness of the fish.
Shutter speed is 1/180
Auto focus
Auto White Balance
Auto Exposure

I just realized last night that it has been set on 9MP (megapixels) my highest setting is 12MP so that's now corrected for future pics.

I worked really hard to find the right balance to be able to take decent pictures. Fish pics are hard because they don't stop to pose!

Most of my photos with my PH1 were terrible.
My Oneplus 8 is doing even worse. A faster shutter might help me take pictures of fish rather than pictures of fuzzy blurs.

Raise your ISO to let more light in the camera and use a fast shutter speed.

Yea I’m pretty technologically challenged lol but I’m definitely gonna try I want nice crisp pics like that I got some really nice fish and the pics don’t do them Justice I want the metallic look to show in the pics one of the cameras on my phone is busted not sure if that’s effecting it but I think if that was the case I wouldn’t b able to take any pics I think there is like 3 cameras on this phone I’ll have to get my kids to teach me lol
I feel ur the best person to ask this how long will it take for a 1 inch peacock cichlid to get big enough to go in my main African tank I seen an OB today at my local petsmart and has such nice colours I had to get him but I know for sure if I put him in there now he will b a snack so I have him housed in a ten gallon till he gets swim size but I’m also worried that he won’t grow big very quick in a ten gallon and if in there to long risk him not growing properly and possibly dying I was thinking about sectioning of a portion of the big tank with mesh and putting him in there what’s ur thoughts on what to do ?

May get up to like 4-5 inches, but this giant betta has passed not too long ago so I am currently on the look for a new one. I do miss my old one though, he’d always come up to attack my hand for food, or when I’d do water changes he would just circle my hand inside the tank lol

They are very fun tiny fish lol. I have a 20 gallon high, for my (upcoming) giant betta with a clown Pleco, 55 gallon with my blue eyed BN and 4 rams looking for 2 more and my EBA Cichlid, then my 125 with my mixed continental tank of peacock, 2 Fire mouths, 1 JD and a Haplochromis Nyererei

U have a mixed continent cichlid tank I am in awe of that that must have been super hard to do I have 110 for my Africans and my JD,Oscar,and fire mouth in a 50 right now they are still juvenile so it’s big enough but I just bought a 100 for them to move into in the next couple months as my Oscar is growing super fast how did u go about getting the mixed cichlid tank to work my life would b so much easier if I could mix all my fish together in a 200-250

The fire mouths and peacocks have been in it for a few months and the JD well I got him not too long ago, but I just went ahead and did it, and I’ve told myself that if it don’t work out then I rehome my Americans. But so far so good, all getting along pretty well, sometimes if you want something and it’s possible you have to take the risk and see how it goes but must be prepared for what’s to come.

just peacocks 12 peacocks at the moment and the 1 Haplochromis Nyererei. Mine is an all male tank. He is barely starting to color up so maybe in a month or so he’ll be that Fire red orange with more yellow and maybe green

Yea it looks like he is gonna have really nice colour b sure to post a pic for me to see when he does I’ve got mostly males in mine but when I stocked it I was new to African and Sind realize the males have the good colour and female stay drap

A 1 inch Peacock could take 3-5 months to get to the 3"+ range. At that point (when hes big enough) i would add 3-4 fish in the main tank at once so you don't add 1 single target.

That looks like an OB Mbuna based on the pic. But its fuzzy and I could be wrong.
