I have all female guppies in my tank and now i have 8 fry and as the LFS keeps swordtails and guppies in the same tank i was thinking that the father could possibly be a swordtail as they can mate together - just wondering if you know whether some of the fry could turn out to be swordtails if this is the case?

Swordtails and guppies don't usually breed with each other. Since guppies carry their fry 28 days or a little longer she was probably pregnant when the LFS got them.

Thanks - that's a relief
I have moved the fry into a spare 10 gall. tank - how many adult guppies can fit happilly in a 10 gall. as i want to keep as many of the fry as possible but do not have the room for a big tank

You certainly have a lot of fish - lucky you!

10gall - 5 guppies

10gall - 9 fry now
