Impeller question

Tonight while performing filter maintenance I removed the impeller to clean it and a black rubber stopper fell off. Luckily I found it and put it back on the impeller. I reinstalled everything and turned the filter back on but it was making a funny sound. I took everything apart again but the black stopper was missing. I managed to get the impeller installed and working without the stopper and ordered a replacement already, but I am worried that without the stopper I could damage my aquatop cf-300 canister. Does anybody know if I can screw up the filter or what I should do about the missing part?

Thanks

I don't have any experience running them without all the pieces. Maybe someone else has.

Good morning,

I have moved your thread from Reviews/Fish Tank Filters to Freshwater Tank Equipment/Filters and Filtration section of the forum.

Thanks!

It is possible that with the impeller running and not centered up it could ware out quicker or it could rub groves in the plastic housing if left run like that for very long. I don’t know how long it will take for you to get the part in so hopefully it will be ok for a few days.

I think I know what happened, the stopper is in the proper place but no longer comes out with the impeller. So the impeller is installed correctly but I will have a hard time removing the stopper in the future if I need to.
