I'm So Excited, I Can Barely Sit Still!

Today is one of the most exciting days in the life of an aquarium owner - I have a shipment of fish and shrimp coming today!! I don't really have anyone I know in person who understands the excitement of new fish or invertebrates. I have 12 spotted rasbora and 20 cherry shrimp arriving in the mail this afternoon. I have to work until 4:30 and won't be home till 5. I'd love to make an excuse to leave early, but a coworker already called off today So, my poor little fishies and shrimp are going to have to wait a little extra to be freed. I also have some rabbit snails on the way and should have those by Saturday! I just had to share my excitement with people who understand. I'll post pics of my newest creatures as soon as I have them unboxed and safely in quarantine. Anyone else expecting new animals soon? Please share your joy - and pics if you have them

Blergh!! The mail carrier comes every day, Monday through Saturday, at around 1:30 in the afternoon. So, I fully expected to come home to my fish and shrimp. But, I tend to not have the best luck when it comes to things like this and it's now 6:30 p.m. & there's no sign of the mail carrier! 5 hours later than usual! And the sun has gone down and the temperature is around 39 degrees Fahrenheit and I'm growing concerned about my poor little fish and shrimp. I'll post some pictures of them all when I've finally gotten them and have them acclimating.

Well, they arrived just as I sat down to dinner. Every single shrimp and fish arrived alive!! I let their water slowly change to room temperature and right now they're being drip acclimated. Here's a picture of the adorable little cherry shrimp acclimating. The pic of the rasbora doesn't look like anything cuz they're so small. I'll try to get a picture of them after they're in the quarantine tank. They're beautiful little nano fish, spotted or dwarf rasbora.

Everybody's been in their tanks over night. The spotted rasbora are really freaked out and hiding, so the only picture I was able to get doesn't do them justice. I got a better picture of the cherry shrimp, as they are much less freaked out.
