I'm on Stay-cation!

I have off this Friday for the 4th of July holiday and decided to take off tomorrow and Thursday as well to make a long 5-day weekend. I'm not going away anywhere so this is just a stay-cation, but I got a lot going on anyway. Tomorrow and Thursday my landscaper is coming to completely demo my flower beds at the front and sides of my house...removing all plants, shrubs, and bushes; removing the bed borders; and removing the pre-existing mulch and bedsoil. Then I'm having new beds put in, new soil, new mulch, shovel edged, and with 25 new plantings. I'm very excited about it; it's going to be a huge difference. I've already taken the "before pics" after work today and I'll be taking the "after pics" when it's all done.

Then this weekend, most likely Sunday, I'll be going back to my favorite fish store in Jersey to get some more fish, especially since they're having a 20% off all livestock sale for the 4th of July. I got 8 cherry barbs there last Saturday, and I'm probably going to get a few more of those to up their school. Also, I'm probably going to get a school of sterbaI corys, especially since they're expensive and the 20% will really help. I'll probably hold off on the pearl gourami so that I'm not adding too much fish, even though I may be doing that already. So maybe I'll just get the corys and leave the extra cherry barbs and gourami for another time.

And of course I'll be enjoying some fireworks on Saturday night. My town does a show and I have a view of them right from my back deck. My house sits on a hill overlooking the town.

Enjoy your nice long weekend! I'm jealous - I work EVERY DAY but then again, I work from home.

Sounds like your yard will look great! Do you ever water your plants with the used tank water? I ask because I do all the time and my neighbors have asked how my Lily and other plants seem to thrive so well during our drought. LOL

Have fun at the fish store.... I may do just the same. I am ashamed to say, I have had my last fish buys STILL in the QT tank because I am too lazy to take them out and then tear down the tank. They've been in there nearly 2 months!

I did get a $50.00 FISH card from my son for my birthday so now I have $$$ to burn on new stock.... LOL

I wouldn't mind working from home. I have a 40 mile commute one-way that takes anywhere from 40 minutes to an hour, depending on traffic. So it's nice have some time at home haha.

When I had my betta tanks and my 10 gallon running, I used to use the water on my hostas. They got huge! I used a siphon and bucket on those tanks, but I use a water changer on my big tanks so all the water just goes down the drain. And yeah, I think it'll look great. I'm excited to get the old bushes and shrubs removed and the new ones put in. Will look like a whole new house!

Well you better get those fish outta the QT so you can put your new ones in it this weekend!! $50!?!?! That'll be some fun shopping!

40 minutes is not bad. Mr. Junne travels 1.5 to 2 hours EACH way, with an average of 1.5 hours in the morning, 2 + hours coming home. His company gave him a new car and his gas ( $600.00 a month ) is paid for, as is insurance/maintenance. It's still a long haul but also his company feeds him 3 chef prepared meals a day. He DOES work from home at least one day a week. Can't get much better than that! LOL

Yes, I just want to find the right fish - I really was hoping for glofish if and when the store ever decides to get them. I may hold out for them, I dunno! I love impulse buys though and my QT tank is begging for more fish! LOL

Yeah I use the manual siphon to clean the main tank ( only because it has better suction than the python ) I only siphon about 10 gallons and use that on my plants. The rest of it I python out and it goes down the drain.

I work for the Army so there's no way they'd give me a car or pay for anything. Unless I joined a van pool program. Which I guess is cool, but no thanks! I don't want to be beholden to 7 other people!

Impulse buys are the best! I bet you'll find something that you like even better than the glofish!

So apparently my sister is off for the next NINE days, so we made plans to do something...we're off to the Philadelphia Zoo on Friday!

7 people is not bad. When Mr. Junne worked for Google, they had busses he could take ( it would only cost him 1.50 each way and it was 60 miles ) but he got mad at me when I called it the "loser cruiser" and never took it after that. Lololol

Zoo sounds like fun. maybe you can adopt a baby tapir.

Day 1 of my landscape install is done! Looking great so far. They really got a lot done today; there isn't all that much left to do tomorrow. Not looking forward to the check I'll have to write though.

Junne - a baby tapir?? haha

Oh guys! I'm not IN the Army. I'm a civilian. I work in Army contracting and support the soldiers by buying weapons and ammo for them.

Now the "give me 20, soldier" comment makes so much more sense haha.

Lol, so you work for a defense company like Raytheon or something? You think you could hook me up with a M-16? lol

I know that feeling! Sometimes the bushes just grow so big that you can't even see your house well and then when you trim those bushes down you're like, "Wow, I have a house! Not a jungle!"

Junne

Looking good! Yes, I agree - taking that bush out really opened things up! Looks nice, Pongo!

HAHA on the staycations elliot5445. I don't really like that word either because for me, it means housework and or other domestic duties..... LOL
I try and plan to go somewhere even if its a few hours away to feel like I did something. LOL

Well I was supposed to go to the Philadelphia Zoo tomorrow but my sister backed out. Instead, I guess we're gonna take our dogs for a hike and then get lunch. Oh well.

My sister and I took our dogs for a hike along the Delaware River today. It was an amazingly beautiful day. And now I'm beat.
