Hi! I have been keeping bettas for a long time, and I recommend purchasing a “7 day fish food pellet” (I’m pretty sure that’s what their called) you can find them in pretty much any pet shop, and I personally think they work well. If you don’t have time to get one befor you leave your betta should be OK for a week without food but be sure to feed it right after you get back. Hope this helps!

Bettas can go a decent amount without food, but my concern is more about the conditions of her tank. Do you have anybody who could stop by and change her water/feed her while you're gone? For the amount of time you're away, it's not recommended to not feed her at all.. Maybe a vacation feeder as a last resort if nobody can come and tend to her?

I would either have some one stop by and feed her. Auto feeders are also great! I wouldn't worry about the water quality. As long as your nitrates are usually on the low end of the spectrum (one betta in a 5.5g is not gonna create high amount of nitrates so you should be fine), you won't have to do any water changes over the week-ish you'll be gone for.
I would do a water change the morning before the day you leave (things such as osmotic parameters sometimes but rarley can swing so i like to give it 24hrs to give a nice cushion)

A week is fine for them to go without food. Just do a water change before you leave.

He can go for a week without food and without a water change if you have a filter. DO NOT add a vaccine feeder, it's too much junk food and too much mess. You can get an automatic feeder if you want, the type with separate sections that you can fill with anything you want, and the quantity that you want is best. Like the
Fish Mate F14 Aquarium Fish Feeder

Thanks! I'm not worried about the water quality much because I do water changes once per week. I'm leaving for 8 days so if I'm one day late that shouldn't hurt my cycle.
I can try to find somebody but right off the bat, no.

Okay, thanks! I heard vacation feeders sucked; they increase ammonia and bettas would eat everything in one go causing constipation or extreme bloating.

Should be okay! She may get lonely. When I had my college betta and would go home for the weekends, I'd have to leave him by a picture of me... he would be down in the dumps for days otherwise. However, he's been the only betta I've had who formed that strong of a bond with me, so yours will probably be okay!
