Are you 100% sure? Bc that's like 20 bucks and I've already spent a lot on this

Your welcome to get a second third opinion that would be best as we all make mistakes the colour on the yellow is consistent with the colour on a red on a red it looks more brown, if it were my tank I'd say 100% but we need to make sure. I'll give FishRFriendz a shout I hope I'm wrong, tell me the ones that died had the shell got holes where the brown is

I agree with Rich. Levamisole is my go to and in fact I could never maintain a colony until I treated the tank with it. Buy it from subquaria but weigh it out.

H Farnsworth take a look at the photos and give an opinion as to rust spot of not I'd like to make sure the diagnosis is correct

Levamisole? I have no idea how to treat shrimp, so I'm just curious. Levamisole is a dewormer correct? Is rust spot bacterial? How does it work?

Idk if I can afford this. I've put too much into this already.

If it's the right med, it will save some shrimp I'm sure. Those shrimp don't look cheap! Just my two cents.

Levamisole is 40$ for me to ship in, but without it I wouldn't have any fish left today. Idk, I'd wait for a second opinion, but 20$ for something that is sure to work after a diagnosis is worth it to me. I know you've spent a lot but on the wrong things cuz you didn't have a diagnosis and treatment plan. Again, just as opinion for encouragement, idk your sitch.

What is the dosage for a 10 gal if I buy this:

Also for how long?

Iv had to look this up as I don't know but its 1ml for 7ltr redosed after 48hrs if needed, now the price on this stuff and it getting it to you, you may find the shrimp dead before it gets there money wasted, is it worth the cost that money could start you off again, it a hard one to call

For my fish with callamanus worms, the dosage was 2ppm or 1/4 tsp per 100 gallons if it's the powdered HCI. Do you know anyone that could spare a bit? You won't need that much for your tank if the dosage is the same. 2ppm is a pretty low dose, if anything I'd think for shrimp it would be lower.

I just still don't know how Levamisole helps with bacterial infections. I wonder if feeding antibiotics would help? Definitely Google first cuz I'll say again, I have no idea how to treat shrimp.

Just searched for info, maybe this will help explain things

cant really tell from the pic but if it is rust spot the shell should be eaten away in that spot

richiep
  • #66
being eaten away comes in the later stages when it breaks through then it ulcerates

that picture is affecting prawns same disease but very advanced to what we are looking at over time as it advances it goes all over the body pitting, as I said to Anto I hope i'm wrong and open to any suggestions this is why I asked for more opinions, but we've exhausted everything and there's no other visible signs of any disease

Anton I need your permission to take your photos and send them to a chap to get it verified there seems to be a few doubting the disease and I don't want you wasting money if I got it wrong. the chances are they will be dead by the time you get it, for three shrimp I wouldn't bother you can clean your tank and restock with what it will cost, but we still need to find out if it is rust spot

Oh no! I'm so sorry, I didn't mean for you to do that. I just wonder how a dewormer helps for bacterial infections. It is an oxidizer, perhaps it aids in healing idk? I noticed your link is almost the exact same article as the one I linked, but from a different site. ****?

The other thing I noticed is alternative treatment is improving water condition, making sure optimal params are met and small water changes are suggested. In minor infections, the condition has been reversed with improved water.

But Anto I didn't know you only had 3 shrimp left. I agree with richie.p 100%, the link says most likely the shrimp will die in a couple days and treatment is not possible for internal bacterial infections. With the new info, I take back what I said about obtaining Levamisole. I like to have it on hand personally for my new fish, but for you I think it would be better to sanitize EVERYthing and start over with new stock. It wasn't your fault and it has nothing to do with your ability to keep shrimp on the bright side.

The other thing I noticed is that no2 treatment is improving water condition, making sure optimal params are met and 25% daily water changes are suggested. In minor infections, the condition has been reversed with improved water.

Awwww I sense your discouragement. Idk your sitch very well, but it sounds like you were doing everything right and unfortunately ended up with a disease that entered your system. Nothing you can do. If nothing else, it was a learning experience. I hope you try them again one day, shrimp are so fun to keep. Did you get them from a reputable source?

Anton I've had conformation 100%it it is rust spot disease if you don't treat it will be a strip down and start over which ever route you take everything that's been in contact with the tank must be classed as contaminated, don't give up butty it's not your fault you could easily loose a tank of fish to a disease, if you stick to shrimp I'll be here to help as much as I can,
I'm sorry it was bad news
