Just thought I’d share some snail’o’geddon pics that is currently happening in my tank. Using a none snail safe treatment in the other tank so collected these to save them. They’ll go back once treatment is complete and I’m sure all treatment is gone. Also ignore the floating plants and algae , my last shrimp passed today and had to get him out :( once the snails have spread out I’ll top up the sand for the clam as I don’t think he will burrow in the other substrate, it isn’t sand or deep enough but if he wants to move he can.

Most snails don't bother me. Always find myself fascinated looking at the design of the shells, and especially with nerites, the different designs on the shells!

Haha very true but I caught them all out of my other tank in the first place soooo I’m not scared ( totally thought this a hundred times already but oh well )

I actually really enjoy them too. There’s two nerites and a clam in there as Well as I wasn’t risking the clam with the meds. It’s probably not ideal for the little fella but he didn’t move for months in my other tank and I just scooped under him so as not to disturb him too much. If he does stay in the tub it’ll prob be easier to make sure he has enough food too. He’s already open and filtering so I’m hopeful

Nice collection. Snails lives matter… we’re kinda big fans of snails too.

That’s an impressive collection you have there yourself !! My partner once tried to tell me I had an ‘issue’ in my tank and pointed at a snail . I’m checking the little fella over thinking whats up with him? Nope he just meant the snail itself and suggested I “got rid”. I clearly took his advice :hilarious:

Very nice of you to save your trumpet snails. :)

I was not so lenient myself

I like the little fellas , much under rated imho ( and I’d feel bad ) and well I was moving the nerites and clam so couldn’t not move them. I was also worried about a huge spike from that many dead snails sitting in my sand . I can only imagine that would do more harm than not treating in the first place !

I liked them when they stayed in the gravel. Good at eating left over food, stirring substrate. When they are sat on the glass and decor.... Hmmmm I found annoying.

I think your right that not removing them and then them dieing from treatment could of caused an ammonia spike!

Mine stay in the sand most of the time but with the holiday digs they are on the glass. I don’t care. Let them do what they want until collection time !

yeah that was a huge worry to be fair that’s why I spent several hours sifting through sand !! If I lose some snails it’s not a huge worry but the spike from alllll of those would of been horrendous . Not a risk I was willing to take rather than spend a couple of hours collecting them.

Quick update — they’ve decimated alllll algae and cleaned up the plants which is great and I think I’ve found an easy way to catch them when the time comes … always eat your veggies guys !!
