Identifying piece of wood

I found this piece of wood outside.
Would anyone be able to identify what it is and if it is aquarium safe, once I'll remove the bark.
I am located in Northeast USA, if that helps.

Sorry I don’t know what type it is but it looks like the root of a tree. Do you know what type of trees it was around? That could help you figure it out

I think it looksmore like a bush, just upside-down in the photo. Never saw roots having such textured bark.

I could be very wrong but aren’t all woods aquarium safe as long as it isn’t treated?

The bark makes it look a bit like eastern red cedar, which is a big no in an aquarium. It contains sap that leeches out and makes the water gross. It can also be toxic to fish.
