Ideas For Stocking 36g

Hey Guys! I'm new to this website. I joined so I could get some advice for my newest tank. I have two other tanks (20g and 55g) and I loved them so much I bought a 36g bowfront tank off a friend. I have been cycling this tank for about 3 weeks now without any fish but have been using fish food as my ammonia source. My ammonia levels and nitrites have already peaked and are coming back down, so about one more week until I can add fish.

I was wondering about some ideas I can stock this tank with. I am really interested in having a semi-aggressive tank because I really want a rainbow shark as my centerpiece. I am open to all ideas, but I do want a lively tank with atleast one "bigger" fish (somewhere around 5" to stand out). My other tanks are community tanks and I want to mix it up. Thanks for your recommendations ahead of time!! :) :)

Rainbow sharks will get too big.

    Welcome to fishlore!
I agree, this tank is too small for a rainbow shark, they need a 55g minimum.
What are the dimensions of the tank?

    The tank is a 36g bowfront so 15" Deep X 30" Long X 21"High.

OK. What else do you want, instead of the rainbow shark?

I agree that the rainbow shark would need a bigger tank.

I really like the Jewel Cichlid and Black Kuhli Loaches. I also like Exlipse Catfish but I was thinking that they get too big (6"). Do you have any suggestions?

    Community tank?
    Aggressive Tank?

A single jewel cichlid would be fine, but I wouldn't suggest anything else with them in this size tank as they can be aggressive.

Could I put some schooling fish with them such as tetras?

Definitely not a single species tank. I like variety, but I want a colorful centerpiece fish. I would prefer a semi aggressive tank.

I like angelfish so I was wondering if they can go in semi aggressive tanks. Thanks

I personally wouldn't, they'd likely be eaten or attacked.

    You could do
    1 Angelfish
    2 German Blue Rams
    10 Rummynose Tetras
    1 Clown Pleco
    8 Bronze/Albino Cories
    10 Cardinal Tetras
I think this would work @Anders247 would correct me.

What's in your 55 right now? Any chance you could shuffle things around and put that rainbow shark you want in the 55 instead?

I have 3 fancy goldfish in my 55 with 2 BN Pleco and 1 ghost shrimp. I had 7 in my 20 gall but after a few months I walked into my room and saw my neon tetras attacking them. I only saved 3 and put them with my goldfish, which two ideas immediately :(((. Anyways I don't think I can shuffle things around.

I'm trying to stock my 36g bowfront tank. Would the following work?

    1 angelfish
    2 German blue rams
    3-5 kuhlii loaches
    9 rummynose tetras
    1 BN pleco
