I have an unheated tank with 3 platy and 4 cloud mountain minnows. Platy like 72-82 and minnows prefer it cooler. If I set it at 72, the platy will be cold and the minnows hot! Should I separate them? They all seem happy, healthy and active and the platy has some thriving fry so mustn’t be too cold? Just wondered if anybody else had mixed those 2 successfully? Thanks in advance

72 degrees f should be fine for the minnows. It is a little on the warm side but they can handle that temperature. It is also the temperature needed for Platies. Do you should be fine if you can keep it constant.

Could you say what type of Platy you have? Because if you have a common play you could set the temperature to 70 degrees Fahrenheit.
