Hey guys,

I recently bought a fish whose name on the tank simply read 'algae eater'

I have done some research I I think I might know what it is but just wondered what you guys thought.

Welcome to FL!

Your algae eater is a CAE (Chinese algae eater).

That's what my little cae looked like when I brought him home. He has sure changed over the last 2 1/2 years... What size tank is he in? CAE's have some big fish needs. They need at least 2-3 hiding places, they need lots and lots of food and they prefer meatier foods as they grow. The tablets for bottom feeders that has a picture of a Cory on the front work well. Mine devours them. They are also quite strong swimmers and will appreciate larger tanks - 20 gallons or larger. Mine was bouncing off the walls in the 40 gallon breeder tank I use for my cleaning crew in the winter.
