ID julidochromis

    Hi there! This little one was sold to me with my 2 julidochromis transcriptus 'gombi'.... I know its a juli but don't know what kind. He's a pretty little one.

    Chalinochromis popelini It actually looks like one of these, which apparently belongs in the julidochromis family. Or it could be julidochromis dickfeldi or the convict julie, but it looks most like the Chalinochromis popelini.

    He does look like popelini! I guess we'll see when it grows up a bit.

    It might be dickfeldi, the electric blue lining around its dorsal fin is spot on....Hmmm...

    I was wondering myself if it was J. Dickfeldi as well. Also known as the brown Julie. I have an aquarium fish identification book and looks identical to the picture I have even the little rosy cheeks.

    "The cylindrical, pale, white-brown body of this Julie displays three distinctive, equally spaced dark bands - the lowest occupying the midline of the fish. A few dark lines also cross the forehead. Females are larger."
