Ich- Update And Help With Salt

Please help me quick. My tank has had ich for over a week now and the temperature has been at 86 for about 4-5 days but I don't remember. The fish are only getting worsettled and my gold ram is sitting at the bottom. I don't want to use chemicals so the best I can think of is salt. It's aquarium salt from API and I've heard to add 1 tbls per 5 gallons. My tank is 46 gallons so I'm adding 6 today and 2 tomorrow. I have air stones and everything. What should my water change schedule look like in order to get the salt out and when should I add salt back in when I do a water change? Thank you for saving the lives of lovely fish.

Add salt into the tank whenever you do water changes but only as much as you need for the water you're exchanging not the entire tank. Make sure that you treat your tank as long as recommended and then do several big water changes to get the salt out as soon as possible. There are herbal parasite medications as well that you can try

Cool, thanks. I'll leave the salt in (and I'll do water changes) for somewhere around 2 weeks before I change anything. Unless all the fish are getting worse or something. Hopefully the salt works. I've added a 2nd airstone and pointed my filter outlet towards the top so that the surface agitation increases instead of just the overall flow, if that makes sense. I'm currently doing a water change every other day. I'll update if things get worse, but so far it looks like I'm guaranteed to lose 2 cardinal tetras and my gold ram. My gold ram is now sitting on his side and he can't swim, his fins are disintegrating. Hopefully I don't lose any others.

honestly my fish reacted very badly to salt. something to watch for. once I cleared the salt out with a series of water changes, I used API Super Ick cure and lots of vaccuuming and it was gone under a week. No heat, no salt. just the meds and good parameters. just a backup if your fish react poorly to salt

It sounds like the salt isn't helping. If the cells has been in the tank for more than a day I would say that you should start seeing results. I would remove it and try one of the herbal parasite cures. I know that my local Petco has two different ones
