I have a 55 gallon freshwater tank, with Angel fish, black mollies, rams, bn pleco, and cories. It also now has ich. I was reading about some successfully treating ich with heat and salt, but I also know cories can react negatively to salt. I've already lost one fish (bn pleco), and I'm doing my best not to loose any others. I raised the temperature of the tank from 76 to 83 degrees so far, and I now have the salt mixed in a bucket at the same temp, but I lost my nerve of adding it.
Should I add the salt, or should I continue to raise the temp (slowly)? If I continue to raise the temp, what is the max I should do, and how long should I do it for? I know life cycle of ich is three days, though I've read some continue this treatment for several weeks.
The pleco and one black molly were the only ones that had a lot white spots on them. The angelfish I can see a couple spots here and there. The one black molly was covered in them last night, but I don't see any on him today. Not sure what happened there, but I'm hesitant to jump for joy that I don't see them.
Just really not sure what next step should be, and would really appreciate some advice from someone who has successfully treated ich.
Thank you! <3
