40 Gallon Tank I want to make a space decor theme, what can I use?

There are not a lot of selection for my space decor theme for my aquarium. I was kind of wanting to go for a Star Wars/Star Trek feel. If I bought some 'toys' for the aquarium and sterilized them with boiling water, would it be safe to put in my fishtank?? If anyone has any alternatives or a good site to find space decor at please let me know! Thanks!

I'm not really sure of any sites that have space decor.

One thing that may be cool is a black background with a bunch of white dots on it to be like stars. That's assuming you don't have a background already.

Yes, that's it... a starry background with the Starship Enterprise.

Maybe you could find a couple "meteors" or "asteroids" -- those floating brownish-green moss balls that are tethered with fishing line. They could be planets too; use different-length pieces of fishing line, with different size moss balls and you could create a solar system.

Haha, I'm not sure if that's a sarcastic comment or not, but thanks for the comment none the less But it is quite an intriguing idea

 

My comment? I was serious! You could get a print of the Enterprise and adhere it to the back of your tank, why not? And we do have the moss balls here in the States, they are attached with fishing line.

If I come up with any more ideas, I will share. Planning the tank is half the fun!

There have been some really cool tanks made with Lego, I'm sure you could find something space related.

just be careful that the toys/decor you use don't contain lead in the paint. Not to long ago there was a story on the news about toys made in China being dangerous when children put them in their mouths. Just a heads up but cool idea a Lego star wars tank would be awesome IMO

You could paint a space scene on the back of your tank.
