I want to make a co2 reactor. if I get a co2 bottle from a paintball gun, find a valve that will connect to the bottle run air tubing from valve into a bubble counter out of the bubble counter to a check valve, check valve to air stone in aquarium. what do you think?

where could I find a valve that would fit a paintball gun co2 tank?

thank you!

No, it will not. Bubbles from the airstone do very little in dissolved gases in the tank; the main part is the disturbance the bubbles create on top. This stirs it up, exchanging CO2 for O2. So, you will lose 99% of what you put in that way. No bubbles = good. I mix mine in inside my canister filter; by the time it outflows it is dissolved. That is just a suggestion. Hope I helped, HR.

It sounds simple on paper, but it might prove to be a headache in practice; and as mentioned above by Amazon, might not get you the result you're looking for.

Lets wait and see if another poster comes up with a simpler way for you.

yes I have just made a co2 diffuser for my tank using a soda stream bottle and a co2 regulator.
the line goes into the tank and I use the gadget from the yeast co2 container.
the bubbles get smaller as they go around and up at the same time ,diffusing as they go
hope that helps

Back to the co2 cnister from a paintball gun...... no it wont.... way to pressurized.... one of two things will happin.... you'll blow what ever valve you put on it...... you will see one gigantic bubble....... those canisters are highly pressured...... why not do the 2l bottle ? I use 2 of them and it works fine.... plus 6$ for sugar 3$ for bag of yeast will last me 6+months .... those canisters cost more to refill, and have no regeneration like the sugar and yeast does.

hope this helps check my pics for my non updated co2 DIY system

the paintball canister will work just fine.

also they last 3-6 months depending on bubble rate and only cost 6 bucks to fill.

Not entirely sure why you would say there's going to be too much pressure. It's just a miniature version of a standard pressurised co2 injection system. So long as you use all the proper fittings then it will work just fine. The only problem with the paintball canisters is that they don't last very long. They can go up to 6 months on nano tanks but on any tank upwards of 20gal you have to refill them too often. Fire extinguisher bottles are excellent, cost very little & are easily converted to use for co2 injection systems. I've always used them & swear by them.

Glad you got your project sorted out Nitro & I hope your plants have started kicking along since you got it going.
