At my LFS I saw a blue diamond discus (i think that's what it was). The price...... only $30!!!! (+tax)!!

I want it soo bad! it's one of my favourite fish!! does anybody think I can get it for my 29gal?

All of my current fish are acceptable tank mates, and my water parameters are acceptable too!!

I wouldn't see why not, but from what I've heard Discus is a schooling fish and do a lot better in groups! Otherwise I've heard stocking wise full grown adults need 10g per fish, they do better in bare bottom tanks and need pristine water conditions!!!

do you think it would be okay by itself? I could get another one from the same place for $40 (+tax), but I would have to reserve it til I can get the money (it would take a week i think)

Is this going in your 29g tank? I would think that as it sits now your tank is full stocked! I would look at investing into another tank, Possibly a 75+ G tank for a Discus tank?? :D

Just a thought, I always recommend a separate tank in these instances.

I would agree, Discus are messy feeders & would add quite a bit to the bioload & you are fully stocked, I also wouldn't keep them with angelfish

Thanks for your suggestions. Coradee and MotoDude104 I don't know if you guys saw a thread i started in this fish stocking forum, but I am re-doing my 29gal. which means new aquascape, different types of fish, etc

Even if you are doing a new aquascape, unfortunately your tank is just too small for Discus, even for just one. They are big fish with big bio load, that would need at least 55 gallons. Also it would be cruel to keep a discus solo since they enjoy the company of other discus. So unless you get a bigger tank, it would be wise not to.
