They shouldn't be eating plants unless you aren't feeding enough. Add some wood and zucchini.

My Pleco loves sucking on my amazons leaving holes in them.....even with lots of wood, algae wafers and veggies! I have never seen bother my anubias though.

let me take a photo of it... but I do not have enough algae for them, they have run out of algae... and are eating my plants. Here is what they have done to it.

I do feed them lots of algae wafers. So, what should I do? Basically right now I would just like to add more plants so that the ones eater are not destroyed

I don't think there is much we can do....change plants or rehome fish I suppose. I have dwarf swords that they seem uninterested in.

So, what plants are broad leaved like that, that will grow faster, that I can add? They seem to prefer those to my fast growing wisteria

Are you sure your plecos are doing that? It looks more unhealthy than eaten to me.

Do you have driftwood in the tank? I would also feed veggies, and not feed so many algae wafers.

Yeah I see them doing it, they sit there, and go over, and over, and over it. I have a small amount of drift wood.

I see. So, what sort of veggies? Can I feed fruit instead? I currently only have carrots, spanish, and a mixture of fruit.

They also did it to one of my amazon sword and it has a bunch of holes in it. The ones that do not get planted stay unhurt

OR I also have a followea catfish, Spelling?

Do you actually see them eating holes (i.e. hole wasn't there, they landed, they left, hole was there), or do you seem them sitting on the leave making munching movements? They could be eating the algae and biofilm off the leaf too.

Veggies are better. Zucchini, cucumber, spinach, squash, green beans, etc. I think if you feed them veggies, they might leave your plants alone.

Also, you never answered my question about driftwood.

I believe it's a combo of things.....a less than healthy plant (I have tried the root tabs without great success and have osomote caps on order) and then the Pleco eats the Algae/biofilm/foods fallen off the leave and since they are not super healthy.....holes.

I also see my guy sucking on the leaves despite lots of wood and veggies which he loves!

Right now he is there and sucking hard to stay on the leaf. But they all suck on it so much. I couldn't imagine it gets that much algae. But no I haven't seen them make a hole in it but when I have woken up it has had holes in it.
Farlowella Catfish- I have one of these I forgot. I barely see him.

I use to have bad algae but I don't have any I can see anymore.

The root tabs should be plenty. If your swords aren't doing well, I'd guess you have a lighting issue.

If you never see them leave holes after you've seen them sit on the leaves, I would it's not them causing the holes.

Well 1/4-1/3 of my gravel is flourite. It is partially shaded by the wisteria. How much light does the thing need? I was getting a little slack on my CO2 with prolifera lately so may be I need to add it frequently.

Many swords do not need added CO2. The flourite may not be enough. You have 3 planted pluses on this tank, right?

Yeah, but to slow my wisteria growth I was turning them off sometimes.

I add seachem flourish also about once every two weeks.

May be my loaches are doing it? They do eat like little monsters

Ok I will add that

Planted Pluses don't have 24 hour schedules. I'm confused what you mean. How long are the lights on for the other 4 days of the week?

I mean at night they have their normal moonlight kinda stuff. So I mean it is on the 24/7 button otherwise. It is on for its normal amount of time on the other times.

Again, Planted Pluses don't have a 24/7 button. There are the red and white lights, and there are the blue lights. The 24/7 has the different modes and intensities.

Telling us it's on for a "normal" amount of time is not helpful. How long are the red and white lights on? How many fixtures are on at a time?

The light turns on in the morning at 6 AM and turns off around 9PM, but it gets increasingly bright and around noon it is about the brightest.

late at night it has a blue moonlight kinda color

Those are 24/7s. You have all three running on your tank for 4 days a week, and then for 3 days a week, you have them on for only 3 hours a day?
