I thought plecos were supposed to be nocturnal.

My BN never seems to rest. 2 seconds after letting her out of the bag, she was getting to work on the filter intake tube. Always nibbling algae off of something. I don't think she rests at night either. When I put zucchinI in the tank at night, I wake up and find a chunk of it missing. Evidence that she was busy.

I really like this pleco. A shame what she does to my sand though. But regardless, she's a keeper. =)

 

Mine hide all day

 

My Clown, which is supposed to be super shy and everyone complains that they don't see theirs, is out all day! He's all over the place, I love him My BN hides more than my Clown. Kinda funny, actually... lol

 

I have a albino long fin bn and its out all the time and is very sociable

 

While catfish are typically nocturnal, there are many that are comfortable enough in a tank to be out all day. My BN is out all day and the Common I never see.

 

She must be real gutsy then to be out and about with tiger barbs around. They leave her alone though. Most of them do. One of the barbs has developed a taste for fresh veggies and sometimes she wants some zucchinI too.

My BN Pleco is out and about from time to time. When she is out, she is very feisty and so quick! 4" juvenile.

My Sail Fin Pleco is always out! 10" and elderly.

My bn pleco does not seem to have a human sense of time: she is neither nocturnal nor diurnal, she is up and about whenever she pleases and hides whenever she does not, although on average more active at night I guess.

 

My sailfin 6 inches is out all day. He also has a piece of driftwood that is the same color of his skin and he is completely camofloudged. Mine loves veggies and circles cucumber and chases anything else that want a bite
