HI guys, I just got a used regent model pl te 5hx 5 gal hex tank and I think the filter is missing the impeller and the covering for it. Does anyone know where I could get these parts/get a new filter for the tank [/IMG][/IMG] that's the filter[/IMG] amyone know what that is?

I'm not sure of the one in the first pic but the second pic is a Tetra Whisper 3i. It's missing the suction cups and needs an air pump and hose that connects to the bottom of the intake tube (the notch in your hand).

The air powered filter is powered, by air. You need an air pump and airline tubing

Ok I think I figured it out, after closer examination I found the impellor where it should be so all I need now is an intake tube and the air pump

Are you planning on using both filters on the one tank?

No I think large one should be powerful enough handle the bio load of the betta and 2 cories I'm gonna keep in there

A 5 gal is a bit too small for corydoras. Especially since they are a shoaling species and require a larger group. I would suggest shrimp or snails, like nerites, as tank mates for your betta.

Ok I'm just afraid the nerites might starve to death due to a lack of algae and that the shrimp might get eaten by the betta

You can supplement nerites with an assortment of veggies, like zucchinI and cucumber, and even algae wafers. As for the shrimp, that is very possible that the betta may eat them. I start with a couple ghost shrimp, since they are cheap and are usually meant to be fed to larger fish, to determine how hostile a betta is.
