So this is very sad for me to write

lately my dog which I’ve been having for nine years since I was a little little kid has for some reason been really distant and seems to not like me anymore I’ve been really sad lately
For a friend that I had for many years also stop talking to me now my dog is too

Well basically he’s about nine Usually every day he’ll sleep in my bed get so excited when I come home from school follow me around the house and even sometimes wakes me up in the morning

odd behavior started about two weeks ago
He will not get on my bed no more no matter what unless food he does not get excited when I come home from school looks at me slight tail wagging that’s it he avoids me he won’t come when he’s called or is cautious to come

He is fine with my parents I thought it was may be something wrong with him but he still gets a sided with my parents when they come home or around food it’s just me I don’t know what I did wrong
I tell him I’m sorry every day even though he doesn’t understand

I literally love this dog very much mostly everything has him on it most of my pictures out of the 5000 on my phone are him he has multiple album covers my main Instagram account is half of his it’s literally in the name my toy house is just pictures of him if you don’t know what toy houses it’s a character website

so I do love my dog very much don’t know what I did but it seems like he hates me now he’s normally a big licker i’ve got maybe two licks since the past two weeks which is not like him at all

he’s also had a shorter temper it seems he never snaps I mean never at my mom and recently he did when she try to move him off the bed he’s not bed aggressive he’s never really been bed aggressive in my life I can remember one instance where he was and it wasn’t even our bed it was out in a hotel but especially for my mom he would never do that

but recently it seems like he hates me and wish I would disappear most of the time i feel like crying but hold it in

so what should I do I would take him on walks it’s too hot right now it’s in the hundreds I bought a little toy helicopter to play with him he likes to chase it

yeah it seems like he hates me now and likes everyone else

Picture of him ⬇️

Well being 9 it could be dementia. Tough to guess what’s going on.

At first I was thinking that but he obviously remembers me he doesn’t bark or growl at me when I come to see him he excepts pets. Also he’s a small dog they usually live longer than larger to medium dogs
He is nine and just starting to get gray just a tiny bit around his nose nowhere else
When his daughter has gray all around her mouth and she’s only five

so I don’t think it’s that I really don’t know what’s going on currently he is sitting in my room on my floor Of course he won’t come on the bed

Edit actually doing some research it makes sense I also didn’t mention he has pancreatitis so I talk to my parents about it currently im crying and we’re going to put him on a water hold or he just drinks water to help his pancreatitis cause that could be it as well and if that doesn’t work we will be taking him to the vet well that’s what they say but I know they’re probably not gonna do it

Not getting on your bed anymore could be arthritis even toy breeds are susceptible to it at that age. But It could also be dementia unfortunately dementia doesn't really follow any logic so he could remember your parents but not you.

Take him to the Vet as soon as possible. There is something wrong. Dog's cannot talk so this is his way of letting you know he is sick. Pancreatitis is progressive, and there is not much that can be done to cure it. It can be slowed through a no fat diet, however. Our last Belgian Sheepdog struggled with it for years until we finally had to let her go at 13. We had to feed her a special food that we got from the Vet, I believe it was a Royal Canin Gastrointestinal No Fat formula that actually required a prescription. It was expensive, but it made her feel better and extended her life by a number of years. Good luck!

acting little better sleeping on the bed more just not cuddling starting to get excited when I come home from school

it could just be my dad spending more time with him so that’s why he gets excited when he sees him instead of me if he comes in the house first

but he does have a vet appointment on Monday well that’s what my dad said anyway at 3 o’clock
he is currently in my room

I’m thinking it’s not dog dementia anymore could be a number of reasons why he’s acting like this
I think one of the most likely reasons is pancreatitis also could be arthritis

for he has been jumping on the bed for years and recently it’s harder for him to jump on the bed even small objects I think it might be his joints

and of course he has been diagnosed with pancreatitis

but again there’s still a possibility so he will be going to the vet

Update it’s almost Monday and I really understood how bad this is I realized he doesn’t know his nicknames anymore like he only responds to his name and food like he used to respond to these nicknames
Tink tink
And handsome

I realize this recently and that’s really bad also he wouldn’t walk today when we went to the swap meet and had to be pushed around in a cart
So I don’t know what’s going on with him could be dementia arthritis I don’t know I just hope it’s not bad this is gotten me really sad
it’s hard for me to do things with constantly thinking about one of my best friends in the whole world i have been having since 6- 7 years old

even my mom is starting to notice it and she’s admitting that something is wrong when she wasn’t my dad is too but not as much

He went to the vet today and he’s going to surgery on Wednesday

he has some cysts a lot of them and for some reason my dad‘s only getting rid of two of them which they will probably grow back after

but other than that I told the vet about his
Symptoms the vet said he is not specialized in that department and he says he will ask the neurologist to get A referral

he also has these tiny black bumps on him no they are not flea dirt I know they are not flea dirt but anyway they gave us freaking flea medication now he still has this problem they took a two second look and just assumed it was Flea dirt they’re like blackheads

so on Wednesday I’ll probably ask if I’m there if they can look at his back to see these blackheads also to see how the referral is coming along

Is he chewing where you see the black bumps? Pancreatitis can make dogs itch, and then chew as if they have fleas. The black spots seem to appear in the skin in areas where the dog is chewing him/herself. The Vet may be wanting to eliminate fleas as the cause of the chewing first. We gave our Belgian Sheepdog, who had pancreatitis Apoquel to relieve the itch, and it worked really well. Good luck.

I know. I use to be a dog groomer.. I know exactly what you are talking about. They are in the skin and are usually seen when a dog has been chewing (probably why the vet thought of fleas). It is probably from the pancreatitis. My dog would chew herself raw from it. The Apoquel is not for fleas, it is an anti-itch medicine and will stop the chewing.

I did find this online:

"One other possibility is a condition called Impetigo (what we commonly call “blackheads”). This is caused by infection and blockage of the sebaceous ducts (oil glands) in the dog’s skin, and will appear as multiple black dots in the skin, with varying degrees of redness and swelling. If this is the problem, then using topical medicated shampoos or a combination of hydrogen peroxide (3 percent food grade) and tea tree oil can assist to control the bacteria. Do not scrub too hard, as you may inflame the skin and further spread the problem. I also advise using a pro-biotic supplement in the diet, which can assist to remove the unwanted bacterial colonisation."

Are you sure they aren't little scabs?
That first picture, is that in his skin, or just in his fur? Because if that is in his fur, it looks like flea dirt. Just saying ...! His fur looks thick though, so it doesn't look like it is from chewing.

You need to get him to a Vet ASAP. Dementia in dogs is not uncommon and those symptoms sound like it. Please get it checked
