Because of his color scheme, I'm not positive if the white spots are ick, but I'm pretty sure. I think he's also a little constipated and you can see his torn right fin in the second picture, but that's unrelated. Should I add in a remedy tablet? He's not lethargic or anything, and he's eating normally just to help rule out anything else. My other two are not constipated however, and they eat the same amount (4 pellets) at the same times, 3 times per day. He's a dumbo betta.

It doesn't look like ich to me (at least not yet), but if it ends up being ich, I'd raise the temp to 86 F and leave it for two weeks, doing daily or every other day water changes. Heat is usually much safer than meds.

TexasDomer thank you! I didn't know that heat could do that. do you have any methods for heating? my heaters are all set to 78 degrees.

You'll need an adjustable heater. What size tank is he in?

I like the Aqueon submersible adjustable heaters.

Hmm, that's a difficult tank size to heat - most heaters for that tank size aren't adjustable.

If it is ick, I'd pick up a 10 gal from Petco's $1/gal sale and transfer him to that. You can get an adjustable heater for that size much easier, and he'll appreciate the space

It doesn't look like ich to me right now though. I'd still get him a 10 gal if you can though He'll appreciate the space! a 2 gal tall doesn't sound like it gives him much room.

TexasDomer I haven't seen that sale around here, but I'm going back soon so I'll definitely check! I have three, so I like to be fair to all of them lol.

If that sale is going on, I'll probably get two more 2.5 g's and transfer them. All three seemed pretty spooked at the extra space when I tried them in my old 3 g, but they were less mature at that time, so I'll try again.

Unfortunately the 2.5 gals aren't included in the sale, but I think you can get them and lids for ~$15. I suggested the 10 gals because it would be easier to find an adjustable heater for them.
