i need good low light plants that dont require fertilizer

My tank has the stock lights(soon I will get a finnex stingray) it is a 20 gallon tank and I have no fertilizer just black sand. What plants would be able to grow in it well?

 

Welcome! Java Fern, Crypts, and Anubias are great low light plants. The Java fern and Anubias are best grown attached to decor rather than planted.

 

What about vall?

 

They are a moderate light type of plant but you may be able to squeak by with the stock lights for the time being. They do best with some fertilizer and when planting, make sure the crown stays above the substrate. They get big though and can take over a tank.

Yea it really helps clean my water. But it is so annoying

You can't go wrong with anubias and Java fern as long as you give them at least 6-10 hours of light a day they should do well in your Aquarium

 

I have my lights on from when I wake up till I go to bed.

 

I run my lights 8 hours a day. Plants prefer to have a consistent lighting schedule each day so I recommend getting a timer for your plants. Also if your running your lights when you wake up too when you go to bed I'm guessing you get up around 7 and go to sleep around 9 this an estimate, but that's about 14 hours of light each day. Having this much light on your tank could cause your tank to become overrun with algae so be careful with that.

 

I honestly don't mind alge. I mean its easy to keep at bay if I just scrape it off every week which doesn't leave much time for it to grow
