I Made An Impulse Buy But Now I Realize I Have A Problem

Yesterday, I went into my LFS looking to buy just a male Kribensis for my tank (20 long with two juvenile thick lipped gouramis and some cardinal tetras). However, I saw they had a female too and decided to buy her too. She's so beautiful. I now realize how easily they breed. I do not have the capabilities to feed or take care of an extra hundred baby fish. Is my next move having to return the female? Or is there a way to not let them breed? I just bought her yesterday

The fry aren't likely to survive without food, as long as you have the space for the pair let them alone. You don't have to make an effort to raise the fry if you don't want too. Many fish produce too many fry because they know not all will survive, this doesn't mean you have to keep any of them or even try to feed them, most free swimming fry become a snack for other fish when the parents aren't watching well enough.

I guess I will wait till they breed once. Worst case, some live and I bring them to the pet store I guess

 

Some fish do eat fry.
Ime the overwhelming number of fry produced was more than my fish could eat.
That's why I would avoid a problem before it becomes one.

 

Update: My LFS just said theyd take any fry. I guess that's what I gotta live with for now
