I Just Introduced Two Platys To My 10 Gallon And They Are Eating

I acclimated two new platys to my aquarium, and put them in. They rested on the bottom for maybe 30 seconds and then started swimming happily around. They looked very healthy, so about five minutes later I decided to put one flake in the tank, and they ate it! Is it normal for fish to eat this early after introduction?

It’s great! Shows they’re comfortable in their new home already - they must really like it

Honestly it could also suggest that your LFS doesn’t feed them all that much and they’re starving, but I doubt that as most fish would eat even if they had already been fed.

I bought them from a petco, maybe they are finally stepping up their game in fish care.

A lot of petco fish are not taken care of. Now, I’m not saying all, but most.
Yeah, platys are usually crammed into 10-20 gal tanks at petco so it’s stressful. They seem to be settling into your tank well, good job.
Keep it up!
