Okay so I got 40 RCS today for my 40gal breeder tank and I see a few berried! Also guess what?! When I was taking a dead shrimp out I saw a baby shrimplet I couldn't take a pic because it's to small;(

floating for 15 mins then add some water then did that for a whole hour. I think its because I bought them right when they got to the store. That's a lot of fast deaths. How did you acclimate them?
they aren't having trouble with moltingIf they had trouble molting possibly low hardness?
I hope ;(. Its like every time I look at the tank their is one dead.Awh no :'( Sorry for your losses... Well, at least there's enough shrimp to replenish the numbers!
Ooh, at least you have some more berried ones in there! I'm glad to hear it sounds like things are improving for them. I would bet it was just too many changes too quickly for the little guys.
Have you checked your nitrites at all? You shouldn't have that many deaths they are pretty hardy. How long has the tank been set up?
You may want to consider some fresh veggies as well to help them get some extra calcium.
I'm expecting shrimplettes too. But I can totally understand your trauma. I hope you see baby shrimp. I've seen a couple and they are super duper cute.
They are that many deaths because of the shipment. My nitrites is at 0
I do that every other day. The algae wafers are when I don't do the veggies. And I saw 19 shrimplets today!!!! But 2 are dead
Also here is a bonus
And they are dying on their back :/ with the shelled cracked a little. They have very good color and they are always swimming, so.
This is due to bad moulting. Add some shells, barnacles or if you don't want to change your scape add some crushed coral to the filter.
Shrimp also seem to stay much healthier if you put a dried almond leaf in there they will devour the whole thing over time.
And with lots of plants and good lighting after a while you get algae buildup and you can basically stop feeding your shrimp completely.
Also they love hiding places so little things they can hide in are great.
Here is my 30L I've got 3 species and over 100 shrimp total
Yup we are getting the dried almond leaf from Amazon. How do I get the tannins out?
Tannins are good you don't need to get them out just put one leaf in at a time if you have a smaller tank.
You should still have some sort of shell/coral for water hardness you will notice the difference in shrimp moulting almost immediately.
I am going to be putting them in the 40gal breeder. How many should I put in?
A few decent size shells or barnacles and i'd put two almond leaves in that size.
Only 2?
It's completely up to you but the more you put in the more tannins and the browner your water you will get. 1-2 is plenty for 40 shrimp.
Like I said before the what's more important is your water hardness (shells) to stop your shrimp dying while moulting.
