I have Balloon Mollies and Platies...

...along with my mollies and platies I have a very small Chinese algae eater, and an albino Cory catfish. I had my eye on an albino catfish at the pet store that was about 4 inches long. They seem very subtle and calm. I was wondering if I could mix him in with my mollies and platies?? What are other unique fish you can keep with mollies and platies??

Depends what type of catfish it is. There are lots of catfish that have albino variants. See if you can find a pic for us online.

He looks like the 7th picture. Sorry I couldn't directly post a pic. I'm on my iPad and it's nearly impossible.

No problem

The picture you linked to is a channel catfish. These fish will get very big and aggressive as they age and are better for people with very large tanks and ponds.

I'm not sure if you're aware, but the same thing will happen when your chinese algae eater gets older. He will get big, aggressive, and feed off the slime coat of your other fish.

In terms of interesting tank mates for mollies and platies, there are many options. There are tons of pretty schooling tetras, danios, etc. Taking a look at might give you some ideas (with the exception of clown loaches and plecos).

I know that my algae eater will become much larger but for now he's barely an inch long so I thought he may be safe for at least a while. Thanks for posting that link!! That helps!

You're welcome. It's always nice to hear that people educate themselves on the fish they keep

Thanks for the advice! The people at the pet store didn't seem to inform me on anything about the catfish so that's why I asked. I still love catfish though! I may start nothing but a catfish tank in the future!

Catfish are awesome! My favorites have got to be the synodontis species and the pictus catfish. The are just so unique!
