A friend had an extra Penn Plax Cascade 600 internal filter . For aquariums up to 50 gallons. And it does have a justment to control water flow. I was wondering if it would be too much for my 29 gallon .? I have a 40 gallon Tetra whisper filter on it now with normal filter pad not the replaceable, and I have 15 to 20 bio balls behind there. If this internal filter is not too big for my 29 gallon I was going to take the carbon box out of it and replace the carbon with some file material have and see if it doesn't give me more current at the top of the water for more aeration. It also came with a speay bar attachment and a separate swivle nosle...

Yes that will work nicely in your tank. Get rid of carbon and add matrix or another sponge. I allways run 2 filters. One breaks down there’s allways one running. If you put sponges in it I would rinse it out whenever you do a water change.
