I Have A Internal Filter And It Stops Pumping Air When Immersed Deep.

I have an internal filter Sobo wp-1150f (F.Max-500L/H) in a 10 gallon tank and it works fine when it is near top of tank but when it is submerged deeper into the tank air stops coming in . Water flow reduces but doesnot stop. So is it normal ? They are meant to be kept near top? ... I was just thinking that keeping it near bottom would pick up more waste .

If you have air regulator like on this picture or something similar it needs to be out of water and you regulate on that black part how much air will get in. Plus in my experience air is stronger if that intake is more outside.

Attached a picture of the intake pipe it has a black removable thing on it but it has just a small hole in the centre so I don't think in any way I can regulate the air floww through it .... and the pipe is always out of water I even attached a longer air pipe which was way out of water to check if ir needs longer air pipe but..still dosent mix air when immersed deep..ans works fine when near surface ... thanks helping tho

Forgot to attach in last post so here

You can move that whole black thing probably left and right. But more it is out of water more air will go that's it. But in reality it doesn't help that much it only make water agitation better.

Moving that thing or should I say opening the thing dosent make any difference .. I also took it completely off from the air pipe and still it won't work in deep .. and I used a 1m long air pipe in place of this one still didnt work .... but can you confirm that other internal filters do work if submerged deep near gravel and only this sobo one has this? Just for knowledge tho

I'm not familiar with that filter model, but there may also be a little knob type thing on the top of the actual filter which would only pull air in if it's above the water level. If you just have the tube attachment though you could try removing the little black regulator thingo all together maybe?

It does not need to be out of water it starts working when powerhead is just near the surface and I removed the black thing and even changed it with a longer air pipe without that black thing ... no change

Ah ok, not sure, it could be partially clogged? I'd try removing and cleaning the impeller and the chamber it sits in, and poking a piece of wire or something through the nozzle where you attach the tube. Might not help but you could give it a try, I can't see why it wouldn't work lower down? Unless there's a small tear in the air tube somewhere?

Buy air pump and stone, and put filter deeper
