So I work at PetSmart as a Pet Care Associate, and yesterday someone dropped off a bucket with a cichlid in it, and left it in the sun outside (we don't take donations because it's illegal for us to sell.) So we brought it in and all day I talked to my regular cichlid keepers about finding it a home, because we would have nowhere to take it if we couldn't send it home with someone and we wouldn't have a tank for her so she would be in a bucket . All day I couldn't find anyone, although we did identify it as an African cichlid... Though I am trying to determine exactly which African. I ended up bringing it home and keeping it in my 6.5 gallon new arrival tank, which is heated and filtered, as well as planted and cycled. I gave her some Prime, and fed her one Rosy Red out of my crab aquarium and one cube of brine shrimp last night, and one cube today. She seems very healthy so I'm assuming she was picking on other fish in the original owner's tank. She appears to me, to be a DemasonI by her looks, and obviously I believe she is female, but she is VERY purple (not electric blue type of colorful, but not standard.) She has blackish stripes that aren't very visible, though it could be because of stress, she didn't have any color at all until this morning. I will work on uploading a photo of her but I'd like someone to help me identify her so I know what I'm saying when I go to my local fish store to donate her to a loving home, because I can't keep her in this 6.5 and I won't move my crabs back to the 6.5 from a 29.
