If it's a baby the size of a quarter you can keep it in a 10 gallon for a few months until you get it a larger tank. Longer than that, and the stunting will begin.

ok thank you sooooo much I also made a big mistake keeping a commen goldfish with a fancy can I keep them together for now I'm going to give the commen goldfish to a friend that owns a pond but when its a decent size

Wait, do you have more than 1 goldfish in a 10g?

You can't keep them in a 10g, together or otherwise. The common will not grow in 10g, but it will out-eat the fancy for food and also soil the water way too much, and both will suffer. How big is the common? Can you post pics of these fish?

oh bummer I have another ten gallon I gues ill set it up right now man I wish I could keep them together and they're the same size
