I have a tank full of endlers guppies and Swordtails. I wake up the next day and I only see one Endler. I had 5. I checked everywhere in and out of the tank. The tank has a lid.

Have you checked well? By that I mean have you thoroughly lifted up décor in tank, searched the filter, just basically checking every nook and cranny of the tank.

I have checked every possible place. I even moved rocks and decorations inside

You sound like you were very thorough, but just to be sure, did you take apart to filter?

Have you taken apart and checked the filter?
Do you have any other pets at all?
Are any of your decorations hollow?
Did you sift through ALL of the substrate completely?
Has anyone else been in your house/ where the tank is? I know it seems weird but maybe they died and someone took the dead ones out for you. I think that one seems very probable.
I know some of those questions sound silly or like you doubt that could be it, but please just answer them. This is a weird situation, and you need to locate the fish.

What about them dying and another person took them out? Also, where do you keep the tank?

Hi,

My hope is that they are hiding so well that you just can't find them. I have read stories about some fish going missing completely, and then showing up at later dates when the fish keeper thought that they were dead! And I have heard this over and over again!

If you have checked the filter, the intake, and under every rock, tree, and shrub, and you have gone through the gravel, and they could not possibly jump out of the tank, then then there is only one other option, unfortunately. If you do not see their bodies anywhere, then they were either killed by the other fish, or died for some reason and their bodies were eaten by the other fish in the tank.

Sadly, this happens, too. But again, I hope that they are just masters at playing hide and seek with you!!!

I took all the rocks and hardscape out of a 10g I was tearing down.. it was empty aside from substrate and water.. I drained it, inspected it again, yup just wet sand.. brought it outside and suddenly 2 otos were flopping around in half an inch of water

Moral here is that your fish is probably still alive if nothing is wrong with your tank and there are no predators
