Yay! I remember getting mine off, it was such a relief lol. Make sure you wear your retainers though! I got mine off probably 5-6 years ago and my teeth still move if I don't wear them

Now to move onto contacts

But seriously wow, 3 yrs.? I don’t think I’ve had mine for that long. I haven’t worn my retainers in many yrs. either. Still have beautiful teeth.

I think I got mine off when I was around 13-14, I'm 20 now and my teeth still move slightly if I don't wear them. I actually didn't wear them for about a year and when I put my retainer in, I almost couldn't get it off because it was so tight from me not wearing it and my teeth moving lol.

As you get older, you’ll probably get progressively less diligent. But you’re right; teeth do move, which is why we’re given retainers in the first place. I’m sure mine isn’t the same, as when I’ve first taken my braces off, but for the most part, I think they still remain in their proper order, lol. Honestly, I don’t even know where my retainer is.

Wonderful feeling, isn't it? Congrats on finishing, and yes...wear your guards to sleep in for a while yet, just to make sure it all STAYS there
I didn't get braces until I was in my mid-thirties (so about 5 years ago now), because that's when my wisdom-teeth started to come in (can you say late bloomer?), and wrecked everything in my mouth. I had them yanked, but the damage was done. I was in braces for nearly 2 years--I cried with joy the day they came off. I can only imagine how wonderful it feels to be free after three years!!
Enjoy your corn, gum, and all the rest of the food you were denied!

Wow I have sympathy for you guys and gals that have/had braces. I was blessed with not having to need them when I was young.
I'm an old geezer now, lol, and I still have all my teeth and they're still straight.

Congrats and enjoy that gum!

My grandfather had a accounting client who was in his 90's when I got to know him--had fought in WWI--and had PERFECT teeth. Never had a cavity, never needed braces, hadn't been to the dentist in 50 years. Some people just have the right genes/environment The rest of us...*sighs*

My teeth didn't need braces, just a little touch-up with removable 'braces'. I did have a small underbite but that was not so bad

Get a nice packet of gum & chew all of it at once that's what I'd do.

I had mine for 3 years too. sucked. they put a permanent retainer on the back of all my teeth so they wouldn’t move. so far so good.

Guys, there's no gum, I can't find it!

Edit:
Gums are swollen because of the metal irritating them.
I get my retainer in a week, super excited for that!

Well, picked up my retainer yesterday, it’s no fun at all.
I now have a cut up tongue in the far underside of my mouth because of the rough plastic, and that area most likely will have ulcers in no time

I am just being good and not taking it out for very long, I had to just so I could talk normally, and feel the area with pain.

I'd take it back to the Orthodontist and have them smooth that part asap. It shouldn't have any sharp edges otherwise you're going to shred your mouth/tongue up really bad and have bigger problems.

Feel better!
