I got another box of fish in the mail!!

Woo another box!

This box also came courtesy of Rogue, as many of my boxes do. I received two female GBRs and 10 neons. We actually acclimated them for about eight hours, because I was gone all day and my boyfriend didn't want to put them in the tank without me. So when I say "we acclimated," I obviously didn't do any of the acclimating Better safe than sorry! It also ended up being a mini-water change, since he had to put more water back in the tanks since he took so much out.

The two GBRs are so cute! They weren't shy at all and didn't dart around when I took the cover off the bucket I was acclimating them in. They went in the 55 gallon. Unfortunately they fought in the bag, and the smaller one lost a considerable chunk of her tail. It's disintegrated a bit more since yesterday and looks white, so I think it might be fungus, unfortunately. I'll be making a thread about that in a bit, so keep your eyes open! I figured I might as well make a separate thread for my questions regarding that.

The neons look great! They were wild-caught in Brazil. Normally I'm not a huge fan of wild-caught fish, as I obviously can't adequately replicate their environment, but these were already caught and have been in a tank for awhile, so they're merely changing owners. The little splash of blue is the perfect addition to my tank. I finally have a tank that's done now!! It feels so weird haha.

Anyway, here are a few pictures and videos. Some of the pictures of the rams are right after I added them; they've colored up considerably since then. Of course, the neons are pretty much impossible to photograph. Enjoy, and let me know what you think!

Awww, the rams are so cute! They look great with your rainbows and it looks like they settled right in. Shame about the fighting but she seems to be coping well. Best wishes for quick healing!

Thank you both! I was surprised how laid back they seemed. They didn't come to the surface to eat today; the full-finned one had a pellet or two that sank, but the half-finned one repeatedly spat them out. Hopefully she likes them! Who does't like NLS

A couple more videos, since I've discovered the joy of videotaping my fish:

Nice looking fish. Your 20l is the tank that's done? That's exciting. What's the full stock list?

Yup, the 20 long is done. (That's the second video in the first post.)

In that tank is:

1 male apistogramma trifasciata (Ernesto)
12ish male endlers (blackbar and chili)
9 neon tetras
2 green cories
20ish RCS
4 nerites (two horned, one tracked, one zebra)

Plants-wise:
Malaysian driftwood with anubias nana
Cardinal plants
Water sprite
Rosette sword
Java fern
Banana plant
Dwarf sag

For anyone who's curious, I did have more green cories, but I had terrible luck with LFS cories. These two were the only ones that made it. Especially since I'm out of a quarantine tank now, and I don't want to make the bioload any higher, and these two are buddies, I decided to not get any more. Their names are Spike and Stumpy. (Can you guess which one is missing his barbels? )

That's fairly overstocked (I love that). I am just getting into planted tanks and the more research I do the more it seems to reason I should be able to overstock as long as they're peaceful.

Right now in a 29 (30x12x18) I have:
7 Harlequin Rasobras
4 Cherry Barbs
6 Lemon Tetras
3 Longfin Danios
2 Dwarf Gouramis
2 Albino BN Plecos
1 Clown Pleco

Which looks really overstocked, but I've had no deaths in this tank since I started planting it (had 5 rasboras die before that). I plan to re-home the Danios and Clown Pleco to a 10 I'm setting up, waiting on mail order....And I want at least 2 more cherry barbs but that's all they had and were on sale for $1 so I got them. Would this stock list work still if I had 2 Blue Rams or Electric Blue Rams? Or should I rehome one more of the schools as well?

Everyone looks great . You definitely need more neons. BTW your rams are F1 wilds . Just so you know.

I don't think it's overstocked, endlers and neons have like no bioload.

What does "F1 wild" mean, Rogue?

Nevermind, google to the rescue Thanks for to dig me such great fish! Besides the one female's tail, I'm really pleased with everyone. Also, you said those were small neons? How big do they get?? I thought they looked pretty full grown haha.

F1 is a tornado with wind speeds of 73-112 MPH

F1 usually means first generation from wild caught

Lol as AP said, they are first generation from wild parents.
Yeah, they are about half the size of my breeding adults.

Holy cow! I didn't think neons got that big, that seems like cardinal territory. I wonder how big the rams will get. It seems like they still need to color up considerably. They don't have that big black spot, and they're more yellow than blue. Their eyes turned red though, which is super neat. One of them has a pink nose

Once they get settled in you'll see the black spot and more blue. I think your lights may be pretty strong. They seem washed out. Take a look at them after the lights go off lol.

The lights are definitely pretty bright. Two 54W T5HOs. I'll take a peek after the lights go off.

No food in the box I would have loved to try some of your homemade food! Well, my fish would have ;D What kind of food is it?

Darn. I must have forgotten to put it in the box. They were flakes.

Interesting, I've always thought about how they make flakes. I know how they do it in factories, but that's interesting you can do it at home too. Maybe next time
