It's still sticking out of his mouth, but only by a little bit now. The lights have gone off for the evening, so I'll check tomorrow before I go (the lights won't be on, but I don't want to wait until tomorrow night to check on him). He looks just fine, good coloration, fins sticking up, so I think he's okay.

And yes, he is a bit of a loner! But when I put my finger against the glass he swims towards me, which is fun

I'm sure he's fine, just carrying it around. My rams will suck a blood worm in and back out repeatedly while chewing it. I can't imagine he's unable to chew it.

Yeah you should try some sinking cichlid pellets. It makes it a lot easier for me to get food to my rams with my extremely food driven rainbow fish and blood parrots in the tank. That and they love them!

It's so great to see him actively swimming around the tank I didn't see the bloodworm hanging out of this mouth, but I thought out of the corner of my eye I saw him spit it out and suck it in again, so he may still be holding it, who knows.

Just a few pictures from this evening. It's nice to see him looking himself again! This is a more accurate representation of his blue-ness; for some reason pictures turned out super blue when he was in my other tank.

Update! Ernesto is doing very well in his new tank. Thanks to Cichlidnut's generosity he has some high-quality flake food to eat. I feed him one big flake per day, and he takes it in his mouth and swims to the back corner of the tank to feast on it.

Here are a few recent pics. Any votes on which I should use for my avatar? (Warning: by "a few," I actually mean a plethora.)

I like the fifth one with his fins all a flutter! I'm sure you never would have guessed that from my avatar picture.

Sounds like he's doing fantastic! See what a stable pH can do for a fish, eh?

Wanted to share a couple of recent pics of my own Big Daddy -

Thanks everyone! I couldn't decide, so I'll probably rotate them

Dria: we have sort-of-matching avatars!

Cichlidnut: I'm guessing he nibbles on the ones I put in at night. He's learned what opening the hood means

ZeeZ: he's a monster! A very fitting name He looks way bigger than Ernesto.
