I finally caught my rainbow shark.

After trying to catch that little grump for 3 days I finally netted him. He will be going back to the pet store today, I have to admit, you guys were right. He grew fast and got aggressive extremely quickly. I'm sorry for all my resistance towards your advice about the shark, truth is you were right and I was wrong. This guy was an impulse buy gone wrong, it happens to the best of us. Right now he looks pretty angry, but I think in the long run he'll end up in a better home more suitable for him. I'm kinda hoping I'll get to trade him in for something of equal value, but even if that doesn't happen I'm going to be glad to simply be done with this guy, he's a headache.

That's crazy it took 3 days to catch him if I lived around you I would trade for or buy him but I don't

I love these little guys and I have never had an aggression problem with them and I have kept them with all kinds of fish the only fish I had problems with was tetras and I think that's cause he could eat them cause how small they are
I can stick my hand in the tank and my rainbow will swim up to my hand I don't net him when I take him out I just cup my hands and put him wherever I need to

I hope you can get a trade for him tho most pet stores will take them back after you explain why you brought him back

It took me three days to catch him because I didn't want to tear up the decor. I gotta give it to the little guy, he's smart, he knew exactly what I was going to do so he holed up in his cave. I must say, this is kind of bittersweet. I really liked this fish, he's awesome. The only problem is his temperment, and I know if I want to keep more fish in my tank I gotta get rid of him.

You should be very proud of yourself. You just went from a person who "has" fish to a person who "keeps" fish. Kudos!

I feel good about it. My shop was really nice about it too, they allowed me to trade for a fish of equal or lesser value, so I got a Highfin Cory.

I will once I sell some stuff. He was the last guy in the tank anyways.

Wow, major scare, I was using a piece of airline tubing to siphon excess water from the bag, and it ended up siphoning ALL the water out of the bag, I fixed this pretty quick but the cory is a little shaken up now.

Cories are pretty tough. They can usually survive a short time without water because they can breath air. They may not enjoy the experience though.

Thanks for sharing!

Yeah he definitely did not enjoy it lol! Nice JD by the way, looks oscar-sized. I've heard some can be smarter than even oscars, is that true?

Sorry to hear you have to return him but glad you are doing the best thing for the fish involved. It isn't always easy to be wrong but these are lessons that are never easy to learn but so worthwhile. Welcome to the fish keepers club.

Yeah, it is hard to admit I was wrong, but when you guys are right you guys are right. On the bright side, the cory I got as a replacement is simply awesome, I love that little guy. When I have money I'm definitely going to get him a buddy or two to maximize his happiness.

I'll try, they aren't cheap though. Right now the little guy seems pretty happy so I'm not worried about him being lonely for the time being.
