I feel a little bored, help me out!

Title says it all really, im at a point where i do have quite a few tanks (all bettas except one) and although i love all my fish dearly and couldn't dream of getting rid of them - i just feel a bit bored with the hobby. Im not getting any new fish at the moment because ive got enough to deal with rn.

Any ideas on what i can do to spice it up? My only idea so far is to rescape some of my betta tanks but i just wondered what other cool things i could be getting up to.

Well, what i have done, is i haved moved away from bettas mostly. So many fish out there i want to keep and i have always found i like community tanks for one major thing: i like more watching fish interact with each other more than watching them interact with me.

 

You could also try culturing some food (worms, daphnia, scuds, brine shrimp, fruit flies, etc) for your dudes. It shouldn’t add much time to your day to day schedule, plus you get to enjoy watching your bettas hunt.

 

That is the nice thing about this hobby. So many little niches and little extra things you can do to possibly enhance the hobby for you and make life a bit better for the fish in the process.

Or in my case, i have figured out a lot of what not to do for breeding peacock gudgeons, now working on the fry grow out process, might turn it into yet another side hustle!

 

Maybe you could try teaching them some tricks like swimming through rings or following your finger

 

You could get live plants. You could add shrimp or snails, you could get large enough tanks that other species can live with the bettas.

 

I also recommend adding shrimp or maybe another type of snail to your betta tanks, or just keeping a shrimp tank in general! Shrimp are super fun to watch

 

You have too many of the same fish, so you will get the same results really.

Try something new!
